Tasha Novotny, School Social Worker

Hello, Elizabeth Hall International Families.

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. I am so excited to be back at Hall and working with your students this year! Students know me as “Ms. Tasha”. I have a 1 1⁄2 year old son and a dog named Kiedis (after a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers). My husband and I moved to Minneapolis 9 years ago and love being in the city.

I have been practicing social work for 10 years. I received my Bachelors of Science and Social Work from Minnesota State University and later my Masters of Social Work from the University of MN, Twin Cities. This is my third year with Minneapolis Public Schools and my second year at Elizabeth Hall. It is an honor to be working at Elizabeth Hall and having the opportunity to get to know and support your students.

As school social worker I typically work with students who are experiencing social, emotional, and behavioral concerns which may impact their attendance and learning. I will also work with families in transition and crisis situations. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or would like to talk about any of the following:

  • School Attendance
  • Community Resources
  • Assistance with basic needs (clothing, food)
  • Behavioral support/intervention ideas
  • Special Education/Disability Services
  • Section 504 Accommodation Plans
  • Social/Emotional/Mental Health Needs
  • Social Skills Development
  • Peer Relationships/Friendships
  • Concerns about your student's learning
  • Safety issues/concerns
  • Homeless and Highly Mobile Status/Resources
  • Family events or changes that may be affecting your child
