Here Comes the Bus

View the Location of Your Child's School Bus on a Computer, Tablet, or Smartphone

Here Comes The Bus is an easy-to-use website and mobile device app that is powered by Synovia Bus Tracker, the GPS-enabled vehicle tracking system. Parents and caregivers are able to view the location of their child’s school bus, in addition to receiving email alerts and push notifications when the bus enters a notification radius as set by the parent.

With Here Comes The Bus, parents will be able to:

  • Locate the child’s bus before and after school
  • Receive a notification when the bus is located near the stop
  • Confirm the child’s bus has arrived at school and at the bus stop

Here Comes The Bus tracks all yellow school buses on to and from school routes and afterschool activities routes to a student's primary pick up / drop off location (such as a home address). Minneapolis Public Schools requests that students are waiting at their assigned bus stop 5 minutes prior to their scheduled pick up time to support an efficient transportation system.

Here Comes The Bus is not available for students who are transported in Type III vehicles, such as vans, taxi cabs, etc., due to an inability to install GPS equipment in those vehicles.

Field Trips or Athletic Trips are not tracked using Here Comes The Bus because those trips are considered one-offs and not regularly scheduled trips.

Please remember, Here Comes The Bus tracks buses, not students. Minneapolis Public Schools does not participate in HCTB's Student Ridership program.

If your student has restricted parental or guardian access, speak with your school’s transportation coordinator to enable Here Comes The Bus

HCTB & Alternate Stops

Here Comes The Bus tracks buses on regular to and from school routes. There are limitations of Here Comes The Bus, which will impact families using alternate stops throughout the week. This is defined as a student going to one location one day and another location another day (such as in the case of partial daycare or shared custody).

For these families, incorrect data will show with these alternate schedules.
