All about me
My proudest accomplishment.
I designed and built this hutch.

Welcome!  My name is Mrs. Currier and I'm the Math Specialist at Elizabeth Hall International School.  I co-teach mathematics with the fourth  teachers.  Sometimes this means I'm in the room, teaching a lesson to the class or supporting the classroom teacher.  Other times, I bring a small group back to my room where we work together.  In addition to teaching in the classrooms, I work with small groups during WIN time.  WIN stands for What I Need.  It is a time when students' needs are met in different ways.  Right now I'm working with a group of students who are ready to take on extra challenges.

I have not always been a math specialist, but I've always loved math.  For most of my career, I've taught fourth through sixth grade.  I began my career in Minneapolis, taught in Prior Lake and Faribault, and have now returned to where

I began.  I love being in the classroom and sometimes miss being with one group of kids all day.  But I welcome having the chance to really focus on one subject and deepen my understanding of how children learn.

I have always loved learning.  I earned a degree in German Literature from Carleton College.  A few years later, I earned my B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota.  After that, I worked as a research assistant for Dr. Tom Post and did graduate work in Mathematics Education.  Later on, after my own children were older, I returned to school and got my Master's in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary's University.

When I'm not teaching, I love working with my hands.  In the summers, I spend time in my wood shop.  I have made much of the furniture in my home and love fixing up my house.  I also love sewing, baking, gardening and entertaining.  I have been married for 30 years to my wonderful husband Ross.  We have two grown daughters, Athena and Phoebe, and two dogs, Dixie and Traveler.
