Here are the themes we are going to study in Third Grade:

  • Pinyin - One Pronunciation System to read Chinese Characters (How We Express Ourselves)
  • Jade Rabbit Story for Moon Festival (How We Express Ourselves)
  • Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr. (How The World Works)
  • A mini story about maps (Where We Are In Place and Time)
  • Chinese Festivals and Holidays
  • A mini stroy about Monster "nian"
  • A mini story about rivers in China (Sharing The Planet)
  • Songs from Pre-Kindergarten to second grade years

Focusing on these themes, you should be able to understand (listening and speaking) when someone is telling you about these topics:

  • Greetings
  • Numbers
  • Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr.
  • Celebrations (Festivals and Holidays)
  • Mini Stories we studied in Class
  • Songs

Students will continue to practice pinyin throughout the academic year.

Student will learn to recognize and write Chinese characters.
