Here are the themes we are going to study in Second grade:

  • Chinese Festivals and Holidays
  • Food (Sharing The Planet)
  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle in Chinese version (Sharing The Planet)

Focusing on these themes, you should be able to understand (listening and speaking) when someone is telling you about these topics:

  • Greetings (say hello and goodbye)
  • Numbers (count from one through one hundred)
  • Days of the Week (Monday through Sunday)
  • Months of Year (twelve months)
  • Body Parts (head, shoulder, ear, eyes, and etc.)
  • Weather (sunny, windy, snowy, rainy, cold, hot, four seasons)
  • Celebrations (Festivals and Holidays)
  • Food (food items mentioned in "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle
  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
  • Songs for each unit

Our reading skills will progress to simple Chinese characters:
