4th Grade Learns about Frederick McKinley Jones

Frederick McKinley Jones

A History Player from the MN Historical Society came to Hall school to perform about the dynamic inventor and self-taught engineer, Frederick McKinley Jones. Students learned how his invention, the Thermo King, helped modernize refrigeration in trucks. This important invention led to the improvement of preserving food and medical supplies, hauling fragile cargo and space travel.  Students have been studying in their IB Unit of Inquiry, How the World Works, that innovators and and inventors impact how we live and think about the world.  Students at the end of the unit will develop a plan and a model for an invention that solves some sort of problem in their everyday life. Students will then share their invention at the Inventor's Fair.
